Team Rivals steamroll Victors One in National T/20 Cricket

Defending champions Team Rivals overpowered former winners Victors One to lead their charge and solidify a victory in the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams Twenty/20 Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Playing at Arnos Vale One on Sunday, Victors One managed 128 for 9 from their 20 overs, led by Chrisroy John’s 33. Their innings was stymied by the bowling of Deighton Butler – 3 for 26, Roland Wilkinson – 3 for 27 and Casmond Walters – 2 for 24.

In reply, Team Rivals reached 129 for 2, winning by eight wickets. Hyron Shallow – 62 not out and Marvin Small – 47, steadied Team Rivals’ response, as Ray Jordan picked up 2 for 15 in the process.

But on the weekend, it was not all doom for Victors One, as they defeated Smashers by nine runs on Saturday at Arnos Vale Two.

Donwell Hector – 50 and Shaquille Browne – 28 not out, helped Victors One to 151 for 6 from their maximum 20 overs. Bowling for Smashers, Javon Samuel took 3 for 25.

Smashers, however, fell short in their run chase, stopping at 142 for 7 from their 20 overs, despite Cuthbert Springer and Courtney Joyette, who both hit 31.

Norlan Williams – 3 for 14 and Shaquille Browne – 2 for 15, led the bowling for Victors One.

It was a bad weekend for Smashers, as they also went under to Police One on Saturday morning at Arnos Vale Two.

Smashers, batting first, got up to 142 for 6 from their 20 overs. Cuthbert Springer ­– 38 and Raydon Bentick – 35.

Bowling for Police One, Sylvan Spencer grabbed 3 for 9.

Shacky Green then struck 56, to lead Police One’s response of 143 for 6. Cuthbert Springer took 2 for 23 and Darren Russell – 2 for 33.

And, Bequia had a smooth ride, gaining full points from Buccament Bay Androids, who failed to show up when play was called on Saturday morning at Sion Hill. (RT)
