TASVG to hold awards ceremony January 24


Athletes, clubs and officials who stood in events in 2014 staged by Team Athletics SVG or who competed under its banner, and by extension, St Vincent and the Grenadines, will get additional recognition.{{more}}

This, when the local track and field and road racing body stages its awards and recognition ceremony on Saturday, January 24, from 2 p.m. at Frenches House in Kingstown.

To be announced are the Athlete of the Year; Senior Male and Female Athlete of the Year, as well as Junior Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

The Most Promising Athlete for 2014 will accept the Calvert Woods award, with the Talent ID Athlete of the Year – the Stuart “Rudy” Louie award.

Also down to be known are the Club of the Year, the Technical Official of the Year and the Coach of the Year.

The winners of the National Club Championships, the National Juvenile Championships, the Team Championships, along with the Kids In Athletics and National Relay Classics will be presented with their respective prizes.

Twinned with the ceremony would be the graduation process of the IAAF level one course, which took place last December.

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee Michael Romany will be the featured speaker, and will address the topic: “Building strong communities through sports.”

Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil Mc Kie is also expected to give brief remarks. (RT)
