Team Rivals out of blocks in national T/20 cricket competition

Defending national Twenty/20 Cricket champions Team Rivals ran through their paces last Saturday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, to get their defence of the title going.{{more}}

Rivals batted first and posted 202 for 2 from their 20 overs versus Smashers. Harley Skerritt fell for 99, dismissed on the last ball of the innings. Marvin Small – 41 and Hyron Shallow – 31 not out aided in their team’s total.

Smashers were then stifled for 88 for 6 from their 20. Ozico Williams top scored with 31.

Also on Saturday, Victors One, ASCO, Combined Youths and LIME Radcliffe, joined in on making a winning start.

At Arnos Vale Two, Victors One beat Radcliffe Too by seven wickets.

Radcliffe Too scored 97, a total in which Victors One conceded 41 extras. Shaquille Browne was the pick of Victors One’s bowling, taking 5 for 6.

Atticus Browne – 28 not out, Lauron Francois – 26 and Donwell Hector – 25, saw Victors One reaching 101 for 3 in 11.5 overs.

At the same Arnos Vale Two venue, ASCO handed Radcliffe Too their second defeat for the day.

Radcliffe Too made 144 for 8 from their 20 overs. Kensley Jack stroked 75.

Bowling for ASCO, Ranjel Small bagged 5 for 17 and Deron Greaves – 3 for 31.

ASCO responded with 146 for 6; Deron Graves made 36.

Kenson Danzell was Radcliffe Too’s most successful bowler, picking up 3 for 32.

Also, Combined Youths recorded a 34-run triumph over Police One at Arnos Vale One.

Reduced to 11 overs, because of rain, Combined Youths reached 96 for 7 from their maximum. Marlon Farrrell top scored with 24 and Osrick James took 2 for 20, bowling for Police One.

Two wickets each for Nickie Antoine, Marlon Farrell and Shane Roberts held Police One’s batting in custody, as they could only post 53 for 8, from their 11 overs.

And, LIME Radcliffe easily beat Triumph United by nine wickets at Stubbs.

Triumph United scored 75 for 9, to which LIME Radcliffe replied with 78 for 1. (RT)
