Simple Boys’ trio stars in Biabou Softball Cricket competition

Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys took not only the 2014 Hairoun Beer Biabou 20/20 Softball Cricket competition, but a player from the winning unit took the bulk of the individual prizes.{{more}}

Stein Joseph scored the most runs — 179.

It was Joseph’s second such accolade pouched for 2014, as he was also the leading scorer in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization’s competition, which was also completed last December.

The former St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 batsman also struck the most sixes in the competition — 21.

Twelve of Joseph’s sixes came in one hit, when he plundered 106 not out, against Smashers.

The other half of Simple Boys’ twin tower, Desron Maloney, blasted the first century — 115, also made against Smashers.

In that knock, Maloney counted the most sixes in an innings — 17.

Writing his name in the competition’s record books, Maloney slammed six sixes in one over.

The other award pouched by Simple Boys was through Eldon Morris, who scalped the most wickets — 11.

Meanwhile, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem’s Shamic Roberts registered the first half century of the competition.

Simple Boys laid hand on the title last Sunday, getting past Out Ah Trouble by four wickets at the Biabou Playing Field.(RT)
