Accolades dished out in Sion Hill netball tournament

Those netballers who shone through in the 2014 Vita Malt Sion Hill Netball Tournament, got another glossy moment last Saturday evening at the Sion Hill Playing Field hard court, when they were rewarded.{{more}}

Taking the Top Shooter award was Rochelle Franklyn of Division Two outfit – Sydney Strikers. Franklyn scored 115 of her 166 attempts.

Shannon King of Stinger Girls of Owia was adjudged the Most Disciplined Player and received $250 from area representative Arnhim Eustace.

Stinger Girls also accepted $250 compliments Eustace, for being named the Most Disciplined Team.

The Best Dressed award was secured by New Era Peppers Stars and Eveready Future Stars – the Best Banner, as both were adjudicated on the opening day of the tournament.

Also among the list of awards was the best player identified from each of the participating teams in the two divisions.

The Division One awardees were Shannique De Shong – Young Strugglers; Perlitha Sylan – Pine Hill Clinchers; Aaliyah Anderson – Star Girls; Yonette Belmar – Green Hill Sports and Cultural Club and Jessica Lavia – Combine Girls.

Those awarded in Division Two were Coreen Yorke – Sion Hill; Carlene Douglas – Netters, Rochelle Franklyn – Sydney Strikers, Nescheca Baptiste – Stingers Girls, with Molisa Ashton, the recipient for Pepper Stars.

Completing the list were Joanna Welch – South Stars, Esther Robinson – Vets and Sherry Ann John – Eveready Future Stars.

And, the Sion Hill Netball Committee also paid homage to persons who have given service to the tournament over the years.

The honourees were Earl Bennett, Laverne Ollivierre, Cheryl Alexander, Michelle Wiseman, Shorne Ferdinand, Cassandra Huggins, Sandra Carrington , Claudia Williams, Cindy Lavia and Francelia Knights.(RT)
