The veteran Vincentian football administrator received the unanimous blessings of his fellow compatriots.

Coombs, who served for the previous two years, presided over the reintroduction of the popular WIFA Tournament involving St Lucia, Dominica, Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Speaking of his re-election, Coombs expressed his appreciation for the confidence shown in him by his fellow Windward Island colleagues. “This is very good that my fellow colleagues have shown confidence in my tenure, and we are determined to do much more in the coming years.

“We are ready to develop football in the Windward Islands and that is exactly what we shall do in the next few years,” stated the WIFA president.

Coombs welcomed the decision of the WIFA presidents to introduce a women’s football tournament from next year and the decision to also focus on youth development.

“We are going to introduce youth football by 2016 amongst our associations and this, we hope, will lay the foundation for future success. However, the governments of the Windward Islands must see the importance of our initiative,” stated Coombs.

“I believe the time has come for governments in our subregion to engage us in a serious dialogue about the development of the game,” said Coombs.

Coombs will be supported by Dominica Football Association president Glen Etienne as his first vice-president.
