The school showed its prowess last Friday at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field, when its team side-stepped the Sandy Bay Primary 28-13 in the final.

And, it was a win that was expected by coach of the Buccament Government Santa Cruickshank.

The usual confident Cruickshank told SEARCHLIGHT that her charges were able to retain the title, despite her limited input this time around.

Cruickshank informed of her limited mobility because of a foot injury, but noted that a “team” of persons was in place to ensure that the necessary preparations took place.

Not willing to divulge much, Cruickshank is optimistic that her school can do three in a row, come 2015.

Pointing to a group of students dressed in school uniform, Cruickshank revealed that they were brought to the finals this year, to get a feel of the atmosphere and the level they would have to compete against.

Before reaching the day’s grand finale, Buccament had a 37-9 win over last year’s losing finalist – the Langley Park Government and defeated the Cane End Government, 23-13.

Meanwhile, the second placed team, the Sandy Bay Government, got past the Barrouallie Government, 19-17 and the Richland Park Government, 23-21, before getting blemished by Buccament.

Like Buccament Government, Richland Park retained their third place, when they beat fellow Marriaqua Valley institution – the Cane End Government in the play-offs.

The Barrouallie Government collected a consolation trophy.

Questelles Government and the Layou Primary School were the other two finalists.

The eight finalists emerged from the zonal preliminaries and on the day, were all suited with jerseys, compliments LIME.(RT)
