The two earned the right after both had wins last Thursday in the semi-finals played at the Grammar School Playing Field.

A goal each from Jevonte James and Isaiah Charles gave Kingstown Government the win over Cane End Government, while a Denzil Bascombe strike, in the first period of extra time, ensured Kingstown Preparatory a one nil triumph at the expense of Questelles Government.

Kingstown Government remains unbeaten in the competition, while the Kingstown Prep had one fracture in the preliminary round, losing to the Lodge Village Government, one-nil.

When the Kingstown Government and the Kingstown Preparatory met in the preliminary phase, they played to a stalemate.

This year’s competition, in the form of a festival, is part of the revival of the sport at the primary level, after being absent for just over 10 years.

The Nine-A-Side format caters for both sexes, with the stipulation that a female must be present on the field at all times.

Furthermore, any team which fails to field a female player would have had to compete with eight players.

Nineteen teams contested the festival.(RT)
