Vincentian to attend six-week Taekwondo Instructor Development Programme


The St Vincent and the Grenadines Taekwondo Association (SVGTA) has announced that under the outreach of the PATU and KUKKIWON, through the SVGTA, Emulas Alexander (2nd Degree Black Belt), assistant instructor at the Yin Yang Martial Arts and Fitness Centre has been selected to participate in the Instructor Development Programme in Muju, South Korea for six weeks.{{more}}

The programme is geared towards developing the competencies of instructors from small, yet developing nations such as St Vincent and the Grenadines that have shown demonstrable commitment and potential within the martial art of taekwondo.

It is fully funded by the World Governing Body of Taekwondo, headquartered at Kukkiwon and will take place at ‘Taekwondowon’ in Muju, Korea.

Alexander left St Vincent on October 24 and is expected to return December 6, 2014. Upon his in return in early December, he will be obligated to assist in the further development of taekwondo practitioners here in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

President of the SVGTA Vanburn Harry stated that this was a wonderful opportunity for the SVGTA and the hope is that recipients of courses such as this one would give back to their national association/federation. He also stated that the programme comes at a very crucial time and fits directly into the overall development and strategic plan of the SVGTA.
