Team SVG to compete at 24th OECS Swimming Championships

The 2014 LIME OECS Time Trial Invitational was the last swimming event to allow swimmers the opportunity to obtain a qualifying time for selection to Team SVG, so as to compete at the 24th OECS Swimming Championships in St Lucia from November 7 to 9, 2014.{{more}} All swimmers had to meet competitive qualifying time standards to be eligible for national team selection. St Vincent and the Grenadines will be sending a team of 31 swimmers to compete in the Championships.

The team comprises 12 females and 19 males. The team will race in all age categories and in all relay events.

“This is our largest and best team yet for the OECS and reflects the increasing performance levels of our swimmers,” a release from the St Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Swimming Association said.

The female eight years and under team comprises Mya Defreitas, Kennice Greene, Tia Gun-Munro and Jamie Joachim. The other females are: Eltonia Leonard and Paige Cadogan (9 – 10 age group); Ria Adams and Chelsea Cordice (11 – 12 age group); Shné Joachim (13 – 14 age group); Adora Lawrence (15 – 17 age group) and Neisha Alexander and Loren Gun-Munro in the 18 and over age group.

The male team comprises Tristan Ballah and Eltonte Leonard (eight years and under); Kenalle Alleyne, Bryson George and Alex Joachim (9 – 10); Shane Cadogan, Aaron Defreitas, Tyrique Thomas and Justin Sylvester (11 – 12); Dillon Gooding, Cruz Halbich, Chavez Joseph and Nikolas Sylvester (13 – 14); Dorien Antrobus, Khori Brown, Gerrard Geowarsingh and Storm Halbich (15 – 17); Roy Bradshaw and Kyle Dougan in the 18 and over age category.

The OECS Championships are very competitive and teams from Grenada, St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, BVI as well as St Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented. Grenada are the defending champions.
