Simple Boys in winning ways in TBPO Softball Cricket Competition

Defending champions of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation’s Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition Gairy Construction Simple Boys stayed on course for retention, chalking up another victory last Sunday.{{more}}

On this occasion, feeling Simple Boys’ might at the Dauphine Playing Field were Stingers.

Simple Boys dismissed Stingers for 32 all out in 13.4 overs, as Travis Cumberbatch picked up 3 for 10, Elric N Morris 3 for 5 and Desron Maloney – 2 for 3.

Simple Boys then rushed to 33 for 2 in 4.2 overs, to win by eight wickets.

Also on the weekend, Bank of SVG All Stars, Glen United, Government Printery and Smashers, all recorded pluses in their winners’ column.

All Stars had to rely on the super over to beat Stingers, after both teams were locked on 74 runs apiece.

Batting first, All Stars made 74 for 7 off 15 overs; Andrew Little scored 21.

Bowling for Stingers, Azmon Forbes got 2 for 7, Vendcliff Primus – 2 for 15 and Javari Guy – 2 for 20.

Likewise, Stingers made 74 all out in 14.4 overs; Jabarri Guy had 22.

Earl Pope with 3 for 5, Cedric Thomas – 3 for 17, Brenton Arrindell – 2 for 4 and James De Freitas – 2 for 7, shared the wickets.

All Stars had the simple task of making one run in the super over, which they did.

Glen United beat Smashers by 75 runs.

Glen United blasted 153 for 3 off 15 overs, with Troy John – 44, Mc Neil Morgan – 31 not out and Ronaldo Coombs- 29.

Bowling for Smashers, Rennick Edwards took 2 for 18.

Smashers were dismissed for 78 in 13 overs.

Glen United’s bowling saw Troy John, following up his batting effort, grabbing 3 for 19, Kimon Jackson – 2 for 3 and Wayne Garraway – 2 for 13.

The Government Printery defeated Sunset Strikers by 113 runs.

Batting first, Printery posted 166 for 7 in 20 overs, led by Javon Seales’ 36 and Fabio Roberts – 31.

Bowling for Sunset Strikers, Rodney Gibson had 3 for 27 and Kareem Cumberbatch – 2 for 24.

The sun went down on Sunset Strikers’ batting at 53 in 13 overs.

Only Deymon Cumberbatch with 22, made any score of note, as Kamara Penniston with 4 for 6, Keslon Davis – 3 for 7 and Kevin Mofford – 3 for 27 wrecked Sunset Strikers’ batting efforts.

And, Smashers silenced Shot Callers by 81 runs.

Batting first, Smashers reached 140 for 9 in their 20 overs.

Shemroy Ellis – 26. JR Ashton – 30 and Keneal Richards – 24, were the main contributors in that total.

Azmon Forbes bagged 4 for 19, Zane Greaves – 2 for 12 and Jayvon Jack- 2 for 22, bowling for Shot Callers.

Renrick Peters and St Clair Dickson both gathered 4 for 9, to send Shot Callers packing for 59 all out in 18.4 overs. (RT)
