Dawnley Joseph adds to Stubbs Masters’ ton list

For the second successive week, a player of Stanley Browne’s Stubbs, has slammed a century in the SVG Masters T-20 Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Following Christopher Campbell’s ton the previous weekend, Dawnley Joseph joined in, posting 106 not out against Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan.

Joseph’s knock, which was dotted with 10 sixes and five fours, propelled Stubbs to 211 for 3 off 20 overs. Vincent Benjamin hit 54 and Leon Samuel, 22.

Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan then sauntered to 107 for 7 off their 20 overs.

Kendol Burgin was the top scorer with 28. Bowling for Stubbs, Livingston John scooped 3 for 14 and Anthony Richards 2 for 19.

Meanwhile, defending champions Log Enterprises Kingstown outplayed RSVG Police by 21 runs. Kingstown scored 155 for 9 off 20 overs; Orbiton Ollivierre made 39, Joseph Carrington, 31 and Felix Greaves, 20. Elgin Richards grabbed 3 for 23 and Elvis Browne 2 for 25, bowling for the senior lawmen.

RSVG Police’s response saw them falling short, making 134 for 6 off 20 overs.

Parnel Browne, 58 and Trevor Bailey, 37, were Police main contributors with the bat, but in a losing cause.

Also on the weekend, Sion Hill, Henny Penny, North Stars and Bequia, all registered wins.

Sion Hill gained the premium pay out over Metrocint General Insurance Sagicor Richards Masters by 126 runs.

Sion Hill totalled 181 for 4 off 20 overs, with Keyon Jack making 58, Sylvester Vanloo 36 and Ronald Medford 30.

Richards Masters packed it in at 55 all out off 12.4 overs.

Also Henny Penny doubled up Pastures by 70 runs.

Henny Penny posted 141 for 9 off 20 overs, then dismissed Pastures for 71 in 13.4 overs.

New entrant, North Stars cashed in on St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ptani by eight wickets.

Batting first, Ptani scored 102 for 8 off 20 overs; Cassius Welcome hit 28.

Jerry Matthias with 2 for 8, Reggie Adams 2 for 18 and Eric Williams 2 for 31 shared the wickets for North Stars, who then reached 105 for 2 off 18.4 overs.

Leading the run chase were Oefestal Lampkin with 53 and Harvey Pope 23.

And Bequia Cricket Association Masters won on a faster scoring rate over Computec Belfongo.

Batting first, Belfongo scored 101 for 6 off 15 overs, reduced because of rain.

Elton Williams, 38 and Aaron Bascombe, 25, were the main scorers, as Sean Glynn, took 2 for 17.

Bequia Cricket Association Masters, led by Ashley Cordice’s 50, were 86 for 3 off 10 overs, when rain ended play. At that same juncture, Belfongo was 53 for 3.

Six matches are scheduled for this weekend.

On Saturday, Stubbs faces Ptani at Park Hill and at Arnos Vale One, Kingstown and Pastures go head to head. Both matches commence at 2 p.m.

From 10 a.m. Sunday, Glamorgan and Belfongo clash at Park Hill and at Arnos Vale One – RSVG Police meet Henny Penny.

The 2 p.m. matches feature North East against Kirk Da Silva La Croix at Park Hill, and Sion Hill versus Carlos James North Leeward at Arnos Vale One. (RT)
