Their coronation came last Sunday at the Richland Park Playing Field, popularly called “The Oval”.

Having been inserted, Riverside Warriors posted 246 for 9 from their 20 overs. Asif Hooper struck 91, Chrisroy John – 46; Glenroy Jacobs – 31, and Davian Barnum – 28.

The main wicket takers for Kelipar were Kenroy Peters, who snared 3 for 41 and Suneel Paul who had 2 for 49.

In their turn at the crease, Kelipar Hillsiders needed 19.1 overs to surpass their opponents’ score.

Eventual Man of the Match Salvan Browne slammed 89, Orlanzo Jackson struck 50 and Jeron John compiled 20, to be the main contributors in the successful run chase.

But there were some anxious moments in Kellipars’ triumph.

This was eased when Kentish Jacobs pulled Donwell Hector over backward square leg for a huge six, in the first ball of the 20th over, to bring joy to the Hillsiders Camp and dejection among the Warriors and their supporters.

Limehill Knight Riders earned the third place.

Organisers have expressed pleasure in hosting this first ever competition, and with all being well in 2015, plan to improve on this year’s efforts.(RT)
