Ten entities trading for Firms and Industrial Netball title

Ten teams are in business for the 2014 edition of the Facey Trading Firms and Industrial Netball tournament, which opened last Saturday at the Kingstown Netball Centre.{{more}}

Defending champions – the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, the Ministry of Education/ Teachers, NBC Radio 705, Admin Combined, Coreas/Hazells Inc, Combined Insurances, Combined Banks, the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport and Works and Urban Development etc and RSVG Police are those listed to go in search of honours and bragging rights.

Seven of those participating were part of last Saturday’s opening, and the Ministry of Transport and Works and Urban Development etc bagged the two adjudications which were up for the taking.

That ministry, which was well represented by a full complement of players, copped both the best dressed and best banner awards.

During the opening ceremony, brief remarks which came from president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association Dellarice Duncan; branch manager of Facey Trading, St Vincent and the Grenadines Alpian Toney and Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil Mc Kie.

The teams were asked to enrich the tournament by ensuring that the objective of camaraderie is maintained. Toney, in extolling the benefits of the workers getting involved in physical activities such as netball, underlined the opportunities to fight non-communicable diseases.

Mc Kie encouraged the organisers to host family-oriented fun activities as appendages and attractions to the main part of the tournament. Duncan thanked Facey Trading for stepping in three years ago, when the tournament was without a sponsor.

In the feature match, a replay of last year’s final, defending champions Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture against NBC Radio 705, finished in an exciting 58-58 tie.
