Starlight shines in rain affected North Leeward cricket

Carlos James Troumaca Starlight shone in between the showers, as they defeated Simple Sounds Family in a rain affected weekend of matches in the Vinlec North Leeward Sports Association T-20 Cricket competition.{{more}}

In the possible play on Saturday at the Petit Bordel Playing Field, Starlight eeked out a six-run win on a faster run rate.

Batting first, Simple Sounds Family was dismissed for 170 off 19.2 overs: Maxwell Edwards smashed 85 and Saville Murray 45.

Bowling for Troumaca Starlight, Benson De Bique grabbed 3 for 43.

In reply, Troumaca Starlight made 134 for 4 off 15 overs, with Leshaurn Lewis making 37.

Rain, however, put an end to proceedings in the Somerset versus Robertson’s Surveying Future Legends encounter.

At the conclusion of 20 overs of the first innings of the first game, Somerset had scored 165 for 6 off 20 overs.

Leading the way for Somerset was Kevin Small, who struck 55 and Cavan Bristol compiled 51. Doyle Mc Allister was the pick of the Future Legends’ bowling, taking 4 for 21.

Both teams were awarded one point each.

The second scheduled match between Carlos James Peto Triumph and Ajuba was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Likewise, both teams were awarded one point each.

This weekend sees another three matches on the fixture.

On Saturday, RSVG Police take on Carlos James Troumaca Starlight from 1:30 p.m.

From 10 a.m. on Sunday, defending champions Ruddy’s Electrical play Somerset; then, from 1:30 p.m., it will be Ajuba versus Robertson Surveying Future Legends.(RT)
