Police manhandle opponents in North Leeward cricket
RSVG Police used the long arm of their cricket bats and the force of the five and half ounces of leather, to detain Robertson Surveying Future Legends and Simply Sounds Family in back-to-back matches last Sunday.{{more}}
This was the law officersâ way of saluting the opening of the 2014 Vinlec North Leeward Sports Association T-20 Cricket Competition at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.
First to be put in the cellar was Future Legends, who came up short by 21 runs.
RSVG Police batted first and scored 205 for 7 off 20 overs, with Mc Leon Williams making 43, Marcus John, 38, Gerald Gould, 34 and Mohammad Lavia, 32.
In reply, Future Legends were sent packing for 184 all out, off 20 overs; Elmore Robertson led the way with 55 and Jemuel Matthews scored 39.
Their innings was destroyed by the bowling of Donson Andrews, who took 7 for 35.
Andrews carried over that bowling form in the second encounter against Simply Sounds Family.
He was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 8, with his three scalps in successive balls, thus recording the first hat-trick of this yearâs competition.
His figures, along with Parnel Browneâs 3 for 34, helped restrict Simply Sounds Family to 123 all out in 17.4 overs. Jerod Williams top scored with 31.
RSVG Police then replied with 125 off 8.5 overs, with Mc Leon Williams slamming 83 not out and Elron Lewis 40 not out.
Three matches are carded for this weekend at the same venue.
On Saturday from 1:30 p.m., Carlos James Troumaca faces Simply Sounds Family. On Sunday, Somerset takes on Future Legends from 10 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. Carlos James Triumph United engages Ajuba.
