System 3 duo off on semi-pro loan deal

Two young players from the System 3 Football Club — striker Oalex “Bounty” Anderson and defender Kevin “Bobbin” Francis — are on a six-month semiprofessional loan deal with Antiguan Premier Division outfit, Jennings Grenades.{{more}}

The two impressed the Grenades’ coaching staff, while St Vincent and the Grenadines played in Group Five of the Caribbean Football Union’s senior competition, two weeks ago in Antigua.

Anderson, a nippy striker and a prolific goal scorer, was St Vincent and the Grenadines’ top goal scorer in the tournament, netting three of his team’s six goals.

Meanwhile, the lanky Francis, who returned to the roster of System 3 a few months ago from Avenues, is known for his robust tackling and aerial abilities.

Both Anderson and Francis made the senior St Vincent and the Grenadines team debut earlier this year in a friendly two-match series versus Dominica, at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

They went on to cement their places by making the final cut for the Windward Islands tournament in Dominica.

Before their senior team debuts, they both graduated from national representation at the Under-17 and Under-20 levels, with Anderson as recent as June of this year in the Caribbean Football Union’s Under-20 qualifiers in Cuba.

System 3’s point man Ian Sardine told SEARCHLIGHT that he was delighted to have the two go out into at least a semi-professional setting.

Sardine said that getting players out on contracts is part of the long-term development plan of the club.(RT)
