St Vincent and the Grenadines hosted the first test of the Dhaka Bank series between the West Indies and Bangladesh at the Arnos Vale Playing Field from September 5 to 9. It resulted in a win by the West Indies by 10 wickets.

Off the field, though, Shallow expressed, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT, his satisfaction with the work done by his organization.

“An event of this magnitude is a true test of character and of an organization, and I am extremely satisfied at the positive outcomes,” Shallow said.

“Immediately after the match, we received an email from WICB president Dave Cameron, expressing his commendations about the successful hosting, despite even the threatening weather on Saturday…. I attribute the success to the commitment and competence of every executive member; the work ethic behind the scene was incredible,” the local cricket chief added.

Shallow, in commenting on the turnout on the four and a half days of the match, stated: “I was contented and encouraged by the attendance throughout the match… As we are all aware, test cricket no longer commands the same interest as ODI and T20, but the turnout of our senior citizens especially was remarkable…. Additionally, our invitation to the schools was positively received, which led to the beautiful sight of many schoolchildren present at the match.”

Speaking on behalf of his executive, Shallow extended commendations to the Ministry of Education for facilitating the attendance of the schoolchildren, as they rallied round the West Indies.

Looking forward to another work assignment, when his executive will once again be charged with making things right for the three Twenty/20 Internationals between the West Indies and New Zealand, Shallow revealed their clockwork commitment.

“Work for the female T20s later this month has already commenced… In fact, following the conclusion of the match, the executive met to review our performance with the test match, and finalised the plans for the upcoming international female matches. The intention is to build on this momentum, and continue to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines’ cricket with utmost distinction,” the SVGCA president confirmed.

The Arnos Vale Playing Field will be the venue for the women’s T/20 matches, carded for September 23, 25 and 27. (RT)
