SVG Rugby Union gets propped with coach

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Rugby Union will for the next six months have the services of Welsh coach Rory Tonkin.{{more}}

He became the local Rugby Union’s choice, following the sifting of applications from other coaches, locally and overseas.

While here, Tonkin will head the grassroots programme, which is being propagated in several schools, and will twin his expertise with the local knowledge of Nadine Allicott.

In addition, Tonkin, whose stint here will be purely voluntary, will prop up the already established Youth Programme of the Rugby Union, as well as the training of the national teams, which are preparing for the North America and the Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) tournament, set for Mexico City, Mexico in December.

The acquisition of Tonkin follows a one week stint carried out by development officer of the North America and the Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) Scott Harland, back in June of this year.(RT)
