Imperial falter in BCL 40-over final

Vincentian team Imperial had to settle for the runner-up spot in the Franklyn Miller 40 overs competition of the Brooklyn Cricket League. Batting first, St Lucia made 221 all out.{{{more}}

Bowling for Imperial, Roy Bryan took 3 for 36 and Tumar Sami 2 for 49.

Imperial could only rally to 130 all out. Bjorn Brown – 36 and Ainsley Edwards – 28 were the only notable scores.

Imperial had emerged to last Sunday’s final, after side stepping another Vincy outfit- Middlesex on Saturday in one half of the semi-finals.

Imperial won the toss and decided to take first strike, and at the end of their allotted 37 overs, they had powered their way to 264 for 8.

Roy Bryan cracked 136 runs, which included 15 fours and 3 sixes. Don Parris contributed 22 and Bjore Brown 20.

Bowling for Middlesex, Mark Audain grabbed 3 for 33; Jawanza Young- 3 for 38 and Kavir Singh – 2 for 37.

Middlesex presented little or no challenge, and was all out for 98.

Kenneth Pierre with 45 was the only batsman with any mentionable score.

Bowling for Imperial, Shaddi Khan had 4 for 12 and Tumar Sami – 4 for 13, as Imperial romped to a 166 run win. (RT)
