The formalities were completed last Saturday night at the Clive Tannis hard court in Bequia, despite an early run by the Warriaz.

After the first quarter, Warriaz held a slender one point lead, 15-14; however, this was their highest point of the encounter as Duke went into overdrive in the second period of play.

Duke, at the half way mark was in the ascendancy 38-23, and at the end of the third quarter, it was 63-47 still in their favour. The final tally was 85-72, as Duke players took their feet off the pedal, resorting at times to play for the gallery.

The outcome of the match was a foregone conclusion, as in game one, Duke had dumped Warriaz 95-68.

Duke, who played unbeaten all season, had a 94-68 offloading of East Blazers, while Warriaz outpointed Rising Stars 64-46 in the semi-finals pair off.

For the winning coach Seneca Mc Intosh, it was as a matter of course.

“We came to defend our title again… We played as a cohesive unit and we came out victorious,” Mc Intosh told SEARCHLIGHT.

When quizzed about the wide margins of victories registered in the tournament against all opponents, Mc Intosh intimated, “The couple problems we had last year, we learned from our mistakes and corrected them.”

Mc Intosh although confident of adding the 2015 title to the list, indicated that he may just have to do so without some of his seasoned charges.

“Some of the guys are looking to retire, but I know I can do it still with a younger team,” Mc Intosh proposed.

The 2014 Bequia Basketball tournament which concluded on Sunday, was the sixteenth edition.(RT)
