Relton John takes up BFA presidency

Relton John has taken up the presidency of the Bequia Football Association (BFA), following the resignation of Dominique Stowe.{{more}}

Reports are that following failed attempts to achieve a quorum to have a general meeting, a decision was taken to adopt the members of the previous executive who were willing to serve, hence John’s elevation.

The letterhead of the BFA shows that apart from John, Lydia Ollivierre is the association’s treasurer; Zonecia Daniel – public relations officer and Wayne Peters – secretary.

John, who is also the president of the Bequia Cricket Committee told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday that his executive’s immediate focus is getting the Bequia football league back under the umbrella of the BFA.

John disclosed that the 2014 Hairoun Beer sponsored BFA competition is set to kick off on Sunday September 7 from 2 p.m. at the Clive Tannis Playing Field.

Last year, the Bequia United football club, headed by Kendale Mercury, staged an invitational competition on the island.

This, after a decision was made by the BFA, with Stowe at the helm, not to stage a competition before the refurbished pavilion at the venue was handed over to a management committee and certain defects were rectified.

Stowe, a committee member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, was recently appointed to CONCACAF, as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for integrity and diversity for the SVGFF.

Part of Stowe’s responsibility is to implement integrity and diversity programmes here, on behalf of the SVGFF. (RT)
