The Aussies got their right to the investiture last Sunday at the Clive Tannis Playing Field, when they sidelined arch-rivals, Sugar Reef Bequia United, previously known as Youth Combine, in the final.

Aussies posted 204 for 5 from their maximum 20 overs; Braxie Browne lashed 43, Julian Edwards – 41, with Shem Browne – 29 and Salvan Browne – 20.

Bowling for Bequia United, Garvin Olliverre took 2 for 18 and Roland Ollivierre – 2 for 32.

However, in the run chase, Bequia United was unable to get their innings going and could only reach 155 for 7 from their allotment of 20 overs.

Garvin Ollivierre led the way with 40; Glendell Greg scored 38 and Chelson Stowe – 22.

Doing the restricting job for the Aussies were Shem Browne, who gathered 2 for 20; Verden Baptiste – 2 for 30 and Rajiv Roberts – 3 for 39, to see their team to a 49-run triumph, and another reign as champions of cricket on the Grenadine island.

In the intended third place play off before the final, Village Apartments/ L’ Auberge Port Elizabeth did not have to break a sweat, as Captain Mark Memorial Royal Challengers were unable to field a team for the encounter.

The presentation ceremony takes place this Sunday at the same venue.(RT)
