Team SVG started the match with close scores, matching Finland point for point. Due to lack in concentration and some technical issues, Team Finland pulled away and secured the first match and then the second in a similar manner.

Captain of Team SVG Rodell Fraser commented at the end of the match that they were disappointed with the level of play. They both strongly feel that the team should have done better against Finland and that they plan to regroup and iron out the weak areas identified and prepare for the next match. Finland won the match – 21-11, 21-11.

Team SVG was scheduled to play against Nigeria yesterday, Monday, August 18, at 8 a.m. However, due to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, Nigeria has opted to pull their entire team from the Youth Olympic Games, along with Sierra Leone. Team SVG is still required to be present at the playing court despite the present situation and will use the opportunity for valuable training.

SVG will play Kazakhstan on August 19 at 7 p.m., China time.

Adora Lawrence will commence competition with the 50m butterfly on 19 August and the 50m freestyle on 21 August, while Deslorn Lawrence will take on the challenge of the 100m on the track on 21 August.
