Dominique Stowe has quit as head of the Bequia Football Association.

Stowe, who served in the post from July 30, 2012, tendered his letter of resignation last Monday, August 11.{{more}}

In giving the reasons for his resignation, Stowe pointed to variance in views in the way the sport should be administrated on the Grenadine island.

“After much consideration, I have come to the conclusion that the views of the Association, players and of myself have become distinctly different over the past year. I no longer feel that I can be a useful contributor to the goals and mission of the organization,” Stowe wrote.

In thanking those who spent the time with him over the past two years to develop the sport, Stowe added: “I am also aware that the various ideas for improvement in our community when comes to football seem to be going to extremes overall.”

A committee member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Stowe noted that a recent appointment also prompted his decision to make way.

“I have taken up an appointment with CONCACAF as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Integrity and Diversity for the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, where I will play a key role in the implementation of Integrity and Diversity Programs,” Stowe’s letter confirmed.

Last year, Stowe stated that the Bequia football set-up would not host a competition, once the Clive Tannis Playing Field was not handed over by the National Lotteries Authority to a management committee.

However, a stop-start invitational competition was staged at the same venue, organized by Kendale Mercury, who was appointed as technical director of the island’s football programme, under the Stowe-led executive.

Mercury’s move prompted the intervention of government and sports officials in settling the matter.

A source out of Bequia told SEARCHLIGHT last Wednesday that attempts are being made to put an interim committee in place, to have a football competition by mid-September this year.(RT)
