Inking the new mark were siblings Olalex and Aliyah Anderson, who both led the charts in the senior men’s and women’s divisions respectively of the Hairoun Beer National Inter-community League competition.

The prolific Oalex registered sixteen goals and Aliyah, four, as they played pivotal roles for Barrouallie to lift both titles.

Aliyah joined Oalex, who is no stranger to such accolades, as he has achieved such feats at many age group competitions, national inter-schools football competitions and the various leagues across St Vincent and the Grenadines in which he competes.

But gaining the Inter-community League competition’s top goal scorer award was not the only one in his bounty, as Oalex was also the top marksman in the Under-18 division, with fifteen successful strikes.

Again, Barrouallie took rein on the competition as well.

And, to cap off his 2014 outing in the inter-league competition, Anderson was adjudged the overall most outstanding player.

He earlier this year made his debut for St Vincent and the Grenadines at the senior level and was part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-20 team which travelled to Cuba in June for the Caribbean Football Union qualifiers.

Oalex also was a member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines contingent which retained the football title at the annual Windward Islands Schools Games in St Lucia last week.

“It is a great feeling… It is phenomenal … Words can’t explain,” Oalex told SEARCHLIGHT after accepting his awards last Saturday night.

The awards ceremony took place upstairs the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation’s office, at the venue previously known as the Calabash.(RT)
