With nine of the 26 registered teams participating in the march past, Emerald Stars Sports Club was adjudged the best dressed team on parade.

The opening ceremony heard addresses from vice-president of the Barrouallie Sports Association Tresslon Mapp; president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Venold Coombs; representative of the St Vincent Brewery Kelvin Franklyn; and parliamentary representative for Central Leeward Maxwell Charles.

All speakers commended the Barrouallie Sports Association for their hard work in ensuring that sports is kept alive in Barrouallie. The sponsors reiterated their support and pledged to continue working with the organization for the upliftment of the community.

The feature game saw three-time national community league winners Bank of SVG Barrouallie defeating Parkside Rollers three goals to nil. Goals from Chavel Cunningham, Roy Richards and Vasbert Ledger gave the host the uncomplicated win.

This year’s competition will see six outfits participating in the Maxwell Charles Under-13 and Norell Hull Under-17 and 14 teams in the Bank of SVG Senior divisions. Apart from the league format, the senior teams will contest the Hairoun Beer knockout competition.

Topsidaz won last year’s senior league competition and the knockout, while System 3 copped the Under-17. (RT)
