SVG’s most valuable players at WISG acknowledged

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Most Valuable Players for each of the disciplines in the 2014 Windward Islands Schools Games were recognized at the closing and presentation ceremony of the Games, which formally ended last Monday in St Lucia.{{more}}

For Dilonie Sam, it was the third year in a row that she was adjudged MVP at a discipline. Last Monday, Sam was voted her team’s MVP in female basketball, a feat she achieved in 2013.

Last year, when St Vincent and the Grenadines hosted, Sam also copped the award for netball, which was a repeat of 2012, when the games were held in Grenada.

The other recipients were Kadijah Williams – netball, Darreo Glasgow – male basketball, Chavel Cunningham – football, Roneisha Caine – female volleyball and Brandon Smart – male volleyball.

Lorson Lewis earned the most outstanding coach for football and Vance Andrews – the most outstanding coach in male volleyball.

St Vincent and the Grenadines finished second in the table with 31 points, behind Grenada with 45. Dominica placed third with 23 and St Lucia fourth – 13 points.

St Vincent and the Grenadines won the disciplines of football and male volleyball, placed second in netball, female basketball and female volleyball, was third in track and field, but finished in the cellar position in male basketball. Dominica will host the 2015 edition.(RT)
