The radiothon will be held on Thursday, May 15 on NBC Radio 107.5 FM from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the Teacher Talk Programme. All pledges can be deposited at the SVG Teachers Cooperative Credit Union, to Account #11432 D3.

All funds raised from the Radiothon will go towards the athletes’ airfare, registration fees, and uniforms, a release from the union said.

The CUT’s Biennial Student Athletic Championships was first organized in Barbados in 1986. The participating countries at the inaugural meet were Anguilla, Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Guyana, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and host, Barbados. These championships mirror the CARIFTA games and are the only ones held for the under-15 age group in the region. The 2014 edition of the CUT Games will be held in Trinidad and Tobago on July 25th and 26th. A number of outstanding athletes have emerged from these championships, including our very own Kineke Alexander.

“Member Unions desirous of participating are required to meet the cost of their teams. This includes airfares. The SVGTU wishes to send 32 of our very best athletes from both the National Inter-Secondary and Inter-Primary Sports Championships to the Games. Furthermore, our aim is to dethrone defending champions, Barbados. We haven’t been able to participate in the Games for a while because of financial constraints,” the release said.
