The veteran player Ballantyne ousted another seasoned player, Joseph Carrington, 4-2 (11-3, 6-11, 11-9, 13-15, 15-13) in a tussle in the final.

But Ballantyne’s exclamation mark came in the semi-finals, when he blanked Sean Stanley 4-0 (12-10, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7).

On the other half of the semi-finals, Carrington had a slightly tougher time before offloading Carlton Daniel 4-1(11-8, 11-5, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8).

But Daniel did not leave the venue empty-handed, as he and Ballantyne had earlier-side stepped Carrington and Damion Dublin to win the doubles.

The combination of Ballantyne and Daniel edged out their opponents 3-2(11-4, 4-11, 11-1, 6-11, 11-8).

Also trumping on the night was Velox, who was pouching her third title in seven months, following her wins in the Independence tournament and the National Championships.

In the deciding match, Velox overcame Natasha Shortte 3-1(11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8).

Some of the other players who featured in the senior section of the tournament were Terrance Marksman, Deighton King, Romano Spencer, Kavier Gaymes, Javier de Shong, Khalique Bailey, Karen Browne and Camille Crichton.(RT)
