Young GTC players making steady progress in Caribbean Invitational Tournament

Antonio Cain and Akeil De Roche of the Grassroot Tennis Club ( GTC) are making steady progress in the second Caribbean Junior Invitational Tennis Tournament, taking place in Antigua.{{more}}

Cain, who has been placed in group five of the draw, overcame Aiden Fuller of Antigua 4-0, 4-0, then went on to beat Luca Reich of Tortola 4-0, 4-1.

Cain’s next casualty was Seth Joseph of Antigua, whom he whipped 4-2, 4-2.

Placed in group one, De Roche stopped Antigua’s representative Justin Marcano 4-1,1-4, and 13-11 in an exciting tie breaker.

De Roche also had the better of Aaron Fields of Antigua 5-3, 4-1, as he emerged from his group and entered the quarter finals, like Cain.

The invitational tournament features competition in both boys and girls Under 12 divisions.

Also contesting the tournament are players from Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia.

Cain and De Roche are accompanied by the GTC’s head coach Trevor Sam.
