Manning up the awards were Shevron Cain who was the Best Setter, while Asmond Franklyn was one of the Best Outside Hitters and the tournament’s Best Scorer.

Meanwhile, Marcus Thomas was one of two Best Middle Blockers and Jad Martin claimed the Best Libero and the Best Receiver and team captain Delshun Welcome – the Best Server.

Despite carting off with the awards, St Vincent and the Grenadines could only come away with a third place. The Vincentians sat comfortably after two matches, defeating Grenada 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21), then numbed they vocal home support as the humbled Antigua and Barbuda 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 28-26).

But in the semi-final match-up versus Grenada, the Vincentians blew their chances of a berth in the final. It was a three set come back for Grenada, as St Vincent and the Grenadines had taken the first two sets. Grenada eventually won 3-2(21-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-13), to leave their opponents crestfallen and with teary eyes.

But the Vincentians ensured that they did not leave Antigua empty-handed and burst the bubble of the cocky St Lucia outfit 3-2 in the third place play-off. St Vincent and the Grenadines triumphed 15-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-8, 16-14.

Antigua and Barbuda beat Grenada 3-2 in the final to head to the continental championships in July in the USA. Bermuda finished fifth and French St Martin – sixth. (RT)
