Wearing the number seven jersey, Browne was undoubtedly the most accomplished female player in the four-team championships, which also featured St Lucia, French St Martin and host Antigua and Barbuda.

Displaying all-round ability on the court, Browne caught spectators’ attention with her jump serves, which at times were too speedy for her opponents to receive, as she registered several aces.

It was no surprise that at the awards ceremony held early Monday morning that Browne carted off three of the awards.

She was the top scorer, the Best Digger and the Best Receiver.

Browne was a popular choice for the awards, as prior to the announcements, they shouted : “St Vincent number seven.”

Coach of the Grenada male team Raphael Braithwaite referred to Browne, as “exceptional talent.”

“She is the best female in the tournament. Since I saw her at the Windward Islands Games last year, I knew she was special and has a long way to go in the sport,” Braithwaite said.

However, her efforts were not enough to take St Vincent and the Grenadines above the last place.

The Vincentian lasses saw off Antigua and Barbuda 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-13) in their opening encounter.

However St Vincent and the Grenadines suffered three straight losses, going under to St Lucia, French St Martin and Antigua and Barbuda in the third place play-off.

St Vincent and the Grenadines lost to St Lucia in straight sets: 25-23, 25-15, 25-14, and French St Martin 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17).

The trend continued as Antigua and Barbuda turned the tables in the decider for third and fourth places, winning 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-14).(RT)
