United Survivors, JG Tigress win in women’s cricket

The two top teams in the RBTT Women’s 40-over Cricket Competition, put on by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association, United Survivors and JG Tigress, were true to form on the weekend.{{more}}

Both notched up comfortable wins over their opponents on Saturday.

United Survivors baptised Northern Girls Combined at the Stubbs Playing Field, handing them a seven-wicket defeat.

Debutants Northern Girls Combined were dismissed for 63 in 19 overs. Melissa Charles was the top scorer with 21.

Bowling for United Survivors, Samantha Lynch grabbed 3 for 27; Clea Hoyte captured 2 for 6 and Shevorne Clarke, 2 for 20.

United Survivors then reached 64 for 3 in just 7.5 overs; Samantha Lynch scored 30.

Shania Williams, in between United Survivors’ rapid response, took 2 for 15, to get her tally of wickets going.

And, at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, JG Tigress overcame Garifuna Stars by five wickets.

Garifuna Stars batted first and scored 105 for 9 in 23.2 overs, with Hazel-Ann Foster making 39 and Nyasha Williams, 31.

Latoya Providence had figures of 3 for 19, Stacey-Ann Adams, 2 for 17, and Latisha Sam, 2 for 6, bowling for Tigress, who replied with 109 for 5 from 22.2 overs.

Stacey-Ann Adams struck, 40 not out, to lead Tigress chase. Hazel-Ann Foster grabbed 2 for 27 and Nyasha Williams, 2 for 23, as both crowned off a good all-round effort, despite their team’s second loss in as many matches. (RT)
