The funds generated had been handed over to the Medical Association. The association’s head, Dr Rosalind Ambrose expressed her gratitude for the efforts of the GTC.

Meanwhile, the three major sponsors all expressed their satisfaction with the event.

Director of the GTC Grant Connell thanked Digicel for bringing the islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia and Grenada together, as Tennis coaches Richard Hughes (Grenada) and Dean White (St Lucia) were able to

travel to St Vincent to participate in the event.

Connell said it is the hope that the event can spread to the other islands starting with Grenada and St Lucia next year and eventually to all the islands in the Caribbean where Digicel operates.

Connell said the event had a good combination of sponsors, including Evian, a bottled water brand, which refreshed the players while they traded shots at the Grassroot Tennis Club’s base at the Haddon Hotel courts on Murray’s Road, last Sunday afternoon.

The GTC head noted that the event lived up to one of Digicel’s current promotional taglines — “Extraordinary”.(RT)
