TASVG holds overdue AGM this month

Overdue for the past nine years, Team Athletics SVG (TASVG), the governing body for track and field, road races and cross country events in St Vincent and the Grenadines, will finally convene its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, October 26.{{more}}

The AGM, which takes place at the Xpert Computer Centre, upstairs the Music Centre on Grenville Street, is set to commence at 9 a.m. that day.

Among the agenda items are the executive and treasurer’s reports and proposed amendments to the organisation’s constitution.

But the main focus will most likely be the elections of the new executive to run the affairs of TASVG for the next four years.

The long delay in staging the meeting and holding elections has met with the chagrin of members of TASVG, as well as persons close to the sport and other sporting enthusiasts.

The last elections were held October 30, 2004, when a new constitution was ratified; the association’s name also changed to TASVG.

Another change was made to the constitution which gave the executive a four-year term.

Elected to the executive in 2004 were Keith Joseph – president; Leroy Llewellyn – vice president; Calvert Woods – secretary; Jacinta Ballantyne – treasurer; Desmarie Greenaway – assistant secretary /treasurer; Rawlson Morgan – games secretary; with Cornel Forbes, Aldith Waldron and Vernette Mc Dowald – committee members.

Courtney Bascombe was the athletes’ representative.

Woods, now deceased, has since been replaced by Keisha Sutherland, while Greenaway has migrated.(RT)
