Sixteen teams to rumble in Biabou Softball Cricket

Sixteen teams are engaged in the 2013 Biabou Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Trying to unseat defending champions Raverz, are Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys, Panthers and Customs Sports Club, which are all stashed in Group A.

Placed in Group B are Shot Gun XI, Glen United, Smashers and Street Fighters, while in Group C are Dr Thomas Injectors, Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines Simon Patriots and Lauders.

Completing the registered teams are Combined Sixers, Better Brand Biabou United, Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines All Stars and Young Strikers.

When the third edition of the competition got started Sunday at the Biabou Playing Field, inaugural winners Clinchers forged ahead in Group C, when they defeated Simon Patriots by 46 runs.

Clinchers reached 140-8 from 19.2 overs; Rawle Stapleton hit 26 and Romano Ellis 23.

Bowling for Simon Patriots, Leon Baptiste took 3 for 15 and Romano Ellis 3 for 36.

Simon Patriots were sent tumbling for 94 in 18.1 overs. Hermus Garrick top scored with 25. Oheyon Toby picked up 4 for 20 and Junas London 3 for 17, bowling for Clinchers.

The two top places in each group advance to the quarter-finals. Then, the winners of the quarter-finals go forth to the semi-finals.

The competition is set for completion during the month of December. (RT)
