Sion Hill dump North Leeward in Masters T/20 Cricket


Sion Hill dumped North Leeward by 69 runs in one of four matches played last weekend, as the SVG Masters T-20 Cricket Competition continued at three venues.{{more}}

Playing at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field on Saturday, Sion Hill batted first and scored 157 for 4 from 20 overs. Bill Edwards led the way with 45, Sylvester Vanloo, 41 and Ronald Medford, 28 not out.

North Leeward never came to grips with the slow medium pace of Andrew Bramble, who grabbed 3 for 28, Bill Edwards, 2 for 9 and Cecil Charles, 2 for 13.

Two matches were played on Sunday at the Park Hill Playing Field, and coming away victors were Kirk Da Silva La Croix and Stanley Browne’s Stubbs.

La Croix edged out Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan by six runs.

La Croix made 87 for 8 from their 15 overs. Alwyn Bailey was the top scorer with 29.

Glamorgan in reply were dismissed for 81 in 14.5 overs. Amos Phillips took 4 for 16 and Benedict Phillips 3 for 18.

Meanwhile, Stubbs overcame Arnos Vale by 70 runs.

Stubbs got up to 145 all out in 18.5 overs. Adolphus Campbell had 48 and Oneil Thomas 44.

The lead bowler for Arnos Vale was Vibert Bute, who snared 5 for 27, but the batsmen could not match his efforts, as their team crumbled for 75 in 15.2 overs.

Dawnley Joseph had figures of 2 for 6, bowling for Stubbs.

And at the Paget Farm Playing Field in Bequia, the host defeated Computec Belfongo by seven wickets.

Belfongo posted 181 for 3 from their allotted 20 overs; Junior Bacchus struck 61 and Aaron Bascombe, 48. Bowling for Bequia, Ferdie Friday took 2 for 35.

Bequia, on the back of good scores from Jefferson Richards 76 and Calvin Hazell 65, overhauled Belfongo’s total, to make 184 for 3 in 18.1 overs.

Another round of matches is set for this weekend at various venues.(RT)
