Novice taste defeat in Greiggs Softball Cricket Competition

CGM Novice, the defending champion of the Sea Operations Nar Fen Dem/Hairoun Beer/Premium Distributors Greiggs Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Championship, tasted defeat in their last outing on the weekend at the Greiggs Playing Field.{{more}}

Handing them their first loss in this year’s version was Owia Young Strikers.

Novice batted first and made 113 for 7 off 20 overs; Rohan Dowers, 40, and Dill Clarke, 28, were the main contributors.

For Young Strikers, Casmond Walters and Zimron Baptiste both took 2 for 21.

In reply, Young Strikers reached 117 for 8 off 15.4-overs; Denson Hoyte hit 26; Ricarvo Williams – 21 and Osneth Cato – 20.

Trevor Bute snared 3 for 20 and Kentish Phillips 2 for 22, but they could not prevent Young Strikers from handing their team a two-wicket defeat.

There were also victories for Combined Sixers, Glen United, Clinchers, Dr Thomas Injectors and Bridge Bar Strikers.

Combined Sixers beat Fully Loaded Ballers by 204 runs.

Combined Sixers posted an imposing 293 off 19.3-overs; Kadier Nedd struck 82, Rodney Lawrence – 79, Romano Warren – 39 and Marvin Small – 29.

Ronique James grabbed 3 for 62 and Otis Hector 2 for 63, amidst the run fest.

Fully Loaded Ballers were derailed for 89 off 14.2overs.

Otis Hector hit a top score of 36, as Wesrick Strough had 3 for 8, and Kadier Nedd 3 for 25.

Glen United defeated Gunners by 85 runs.

Glen United were 138 for 6 off 20 overs; Ron Adams – 41 and Troy Patterson – 37 not out. Alwyn Quashie had 3 for 9.

Gunners were defused for 55 off 8.5-overs; Kenneth Lewis bagged 5 for 9 and Ricky King 4 for 20.

Clinchers beat Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines All Stars by 69 runs.

Clinchers had 38 off 18.2 overs; Desron Spring hit 46, O’ Heyon Toby 27 and Darion Dallaway 20.

Andrew Little ,3 for 19, Desmond Bramble, 3 for 32, Glenroy Dasent, 2 for 34, shared the bulk of the wickets which fell.

All Stars failed to shine and were dimmed for 69 off 15 overs, as Desron Spring grabbed 4 for 17, Julian London 2 for 14 and Daron Medica 2 for 18.

Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem beat Dr Thomas Injectors by 23 runs.

Nar Fren Dem scored 101 off 19.3-overs, with Vedan Sam making 28.

Damian Allen picked up 4 for 7, Tex Franklyn 2 for 28 for Dr Thomas Injectors, who, in reply, were dismissed for 78 off 14.3-overs.

Kalique Peters top scored with 33; Erdon Joyles bagged 5 for 23 and Raheem Lavia 4 for 19, to seal the win for Nar Fren Dem.

And, Bridge Bar Strikers beat Panthers by 10 runs.

Bridge Bar Strikers had 124 off 19 overs; Glenroy Jack hit 31 and Kimron Baptiste 2.

Verrol Henry had 2 for 24, bowling for Panthers, whose reply stopped at 114 for 7 off 20 overs.

Roneldo Ashton was the lead batsman with 67.

Kimron Baptiste took 2 for 16, Colly Rodney, 2 for 17 and Kacey Matthews, 2 for 28, bowling for Bridge Bar Strikers.(RT)
