Top teams hold their own in Greiggs Softball Cricket Championishp

Top teams in the Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem/Hairoun/Premium Distributors Greiggs Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Championship showed what they were made of last weekend at the Greiggs Playing Field.{{more}}

Reigning champions CGM Gallagher Novice beat Glen United by 61 runs. Novice posted 124 for 6 in a match reduced to 17 overs because of a late start; Kentish Phillips was 51 not out. Ricky King took 2 for 13. Glen United in reply was dismissed for 63 off 13.4 overs; Andre Hunte grabbed 4 for 7 and Everton Durrant 3 for 23.

2011 winners RSVG Police beat Better Brands Distributors Supreme Ventures Stars by eight wickets. Batting first, Supreme Ventures Stars could only reach 69 off 13 overs.

Spearheading the law– men’s bowling were Roderick John, who had 3 for 19, Malcovin Jack, 2 for 4, Kenroy Martin, 2 for 18, Salvan Browne, 2 for 18.

In reply, RSVG Police rushed to 65 for 2 off 5.4-overs; Salvan Browne had 39 and Roderick John 20; Quesnel Cottoy took 2 for 8.

Meanwhile, Sea Operations Nah Fren Dem One inflicted a five-wicket defeat on Panthers.

Taking first strike, Panthers were undone for 64 off 13-overs, as Cody Jarvis, 4 for 22, Clinton Woods, 2 for 17 and Kenford Collins, 2 for 21, did the damage with the ball.

In response, Nah Fren Dem made 65 for 5 off 12.1 overs; Zimron Humphrey hit 31.

Kevin Henry snapped up 2 for 11, bowling for Panthers. Street Fighters defeated Out-A-Trouble by three runs.

Street Fighters scored 102 for 8 off 20 overs; Curtis Dorsett top scored with 32.

Sunil James, 2 for 30, was Out-A-Trouble’s most successful bowler, who then reached 99 off 18.5-overs.

Leading the way was Sunil Ambris, who cracked 40.

Randy Hooper, 2 for 1, Curtis Dorsett, 2 for 8, Ricardo Thomas, 2 for 2, shared the wickets for Street Fighters.

And, Gunners had a three-wicket win over Dr Thomas Injectors.

Dr Thomas Injectors posted 123 for 7 off 20 overs; Kalique Peters made 39.

Noel Carr had 2 for 30.

Gunners then erased the target, reaching 125 for 7 off 18.2 overs.

Keon John to scored with 20.

Tex Franklyn, 3 for 7, Damian Allen, 2 for 23, Kesron Ashton, 2 for 28, pocketed the wickets for Injectors.(RT)
