The tournament, for the first time under the aegis of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association, is being staged at the West St George Secondary School, dubbed the “Centre of Excellence for Table Tennis”.

Held for two weeks, the tournament is set to come to an end this Saturday night with the staging of the teams’ semi-finals and the singles final.

But this evening, Tuesday, will see the commencement of the doubles and singles competition. Organisers have scheduled the doubles final for tomorrow, Wednesday.

And, showing that they are the team to beat, Computec/Third Eye Security, which features Walter Richards, Michael John, Harvey Graham, Alanzo Primus and Elvis Dublin, are the hot favourites.

Also in line for spots in the last four are NBC Radio 705, UWI Open Campus and defending champion Excel Media.

The other teams which participated in the tournament were Metro Life, Ministry of Transport and Works, KPMG and Vinlec.

Previously, the tournament, which started in 2010, was put on by the Sean Stanley Table Tennis Academy, with the venue then being the Anglican School Annexe in Kingstown.

Media House won the inaugural team title and Excel Media trumped in 2011.

The first singles champion of 2010 was Allan Daisley who represented SEARCHLIGHT.

The pair of Mikous Swift and Rodney Caruth won the doubles title in 2010.

Excel Media won the team title in 2011. There was no competition in 2012.(RT)
