Novice recover in TBPO softball competition

After losing their opening salvo to Simple Boyz, defending champion of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation’s T/20 Softball Cricket Competition, CGM Novice, recovered last Sunday, to clinically dispose of Dr Thomas Injectors, by 89 runs.{{more}}

Novice got up to 141 for 8 from their 20 overs; Renrick Williams and Desron Spring were joint top scorers with 20 each.

Injectors’ bowling was led by Kesron Aston, who grabbed 3 for 20 and Emil Small 2 for 23.

But Injectors’ batting line-up suffered a severe allergic reaction to the bowling of Adonis Nanton, who syringed 3 for 14, Trevor Bute, 2 for 6 and Desron Spring, 2 for 10, to succumb for 52 all out in 11.3 overs.

Meanwhile, Gairy Construction Simple Boyz and E Z Toppers shared the spoils in a tied cliffhanger, as both teams ended on 76, in a match reduced to 15 overs.

Simple Boys batted first and made 76 runs for 9 in 15 overs; Casmond Walter was the lead batsman with 25.

Vernardo Primus, with 4 for 5, Darren Henry, 2 for 10 and Sheldon Nanton, 2 for 16, scalped the bulk of wickets that fell.

In reply, EZ Toppers made 76 runs for 5 in 15 overs. Miles Bascombe cracked 27.

Kenny Hunt and Casmond Walters both took 2 for 20, bowling for Simple Boyz.

Bad light, however, prevented the super over contest.

Also on the weekend, Sea Operation Nar Fren Dem defeated Bank of SVG All Stars by three wickets.

All Stars batted first and made 102 runs for 6 in 15 overs.

Glenroy Dasent, 25, and Keyon Boyea ,23, were the main contributors with the bat.

Bowling for Nar Fren Dem, Jamal John picked up 2 for 7 and Cody Jarvis, 2 for 9.

Nar Fren Dem reached the target of 103, for the loss of 7 wickets, but with one ball to spare.

Sachin James 28, Zimron Humphrey 26 and Travis Peters 23 not out, pushed Nar Fren Dem over the line.

Kelly Murray had 2 for 10, bowling for All Stars.

Joining the winner’s list was Glen United who recorded a six-wicket win over General Hardware Supplies Richmond Hill.

Batting first, Richmond Hill were dismissed for 84 in 17. 1 overs. Elroy Cumberbatch knocked 43.

Damien London had 3 for 15 and Damien Chance and Cassius Welcome both registered 2 for 7, bowling for Glen United.

In response, Glen United posted 87 for 4 in 17.3 overs. Elvis Woods led with 33.

Collin Lee had bowling figures of 2 for 6, in a losing cause for Richmond Hill.

And, Georgie Valley Saints collected easy points, with a win by default against RSVG Police in their intended match-up. (RT)
