Scotia Bank and Digicel are investing in the children of St Vincent and the Grenadines. On Saturday, August 31, the two entities joined with the Buccama Bay Resort and launched the Bright Future Scotia Bank/Digicel Football Clinic,{{more}} which is a six-week programme that is geared toward coaching children in the sport of football.

In her remarks at the launch, Scotiabank personal banking manager Lesley Bowman expressed pleasure at being able to join with the businesses to facilitate the programme.

“We, at Scotia Bank, are very pleased to be joined by our co-sponsors Digicel and partner, Buccama Bay Resort, as we embark on this exciting initiative, which we know will have a positive impact on our youth,” she said.

The residents of the Liberty Lodge Boys Training Centre are among those who will benefit from the programme.

After the official opening ceremony, which was held at the Buccama Bay Resort, employees from Digicel and Scotia Bank took to the field and faced off in a friendly 30-minute match.

Although both teams displayed exceptional skill, Scotia Bank emerged the winners by scoring four goals to Digicel’s one.

As a result of their victory, the Scotia Bank team went up against the Buccama Bay Resort team.

However, it was the members of the Buccama Bay Resort team who walked away with the winning trophy, having beaten Scotia Bank 16-7.

The Bright Future Scotia Bank/Digicel Football Clinic is scheduled to begin in October.
