35-over Knockout competition Last weekend, the BCL also hosted the 35-over knockout competition. Middlesex made amends in that competition, when they outdid Wanderers by six wickets at Seaview, on Sunday.

Wanderers won the toss and elected to take first strike. They were dismissed for 118 in 22.2 overs; Sherwin Bazil, with 4 for 29, engineered Wanderers’ early collapse, which, at one point, saw them tottering at 15 for 6.

Mark Audain, 2 for 17 and Dominic Audain, 2 for 27, assisted Bazil.

In the successful run chase, Middlesex posted 124 for 4 from 19 overs. Skipper Mark Audain hit 36, made up of 3 sixes and 1 four; Dominic Audain, who finished 29 not out — 3 fours and 1 six and Joseph Ledwridge 24 (4 x 4s), combined to see Middlesex to a comfortable six-wicket win.

On Saturday, another Vincentian team, Cavaliers, failed to advance to the next round.

Batting first and fielding with nine players, Cavaliers made 192 all out. Casper Davis struck 51, Timothy Warner 38 and Sarathy Jagadeesan 26.

In reply, Sheffield reached 193 for 3.(RT)
