Schalet plays three and wins two titles

Myles Schalet played three matches last Friday, two of them Doubles; he won two titles in the process.{{more}}

He came off his Boys 18 Singles title win earlier in the day and advanced to the Boys 18 Doubles final with his partner Stefan Cooper, with a 6-4, 6-3 semi-final win over the pair of John Jorgeson and Sami Kirberg.

Hampered by a back muscle injury, Cooper was the weaker of the two going into the afternoon Doubles Final match against the Trinidadian twin pair of Joshua and Ty Abraham.

The Abraham pair had earlier advanced to the final with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Brazilians Pedro Platzeck Cavalcante and Arthur Stefani, and were looking forward to leaving with some silverware.

However, the silverware they left with on their flight was the runner-up trophies, having suffered a final defeat at the hands of Cooper and Schalet 6-3, 6-3.

This match ended a week of smiles, laughs, disappointments, injuries, the making of and renewing of friendships and rivalries in the 2013 National Lotteries Authority-sponsored SVG International Tennis Federation Junior Tennis Tournament, which ran from August 17 – 24, 2013 at the National Tennis Centre in Villa.
