Pratt wins second regional tennis Singles title

Bahamian Simone Pratt, Girls 18 number one, faced a tough examination from Breana Stampli, the number three seed on court one,{{more}} but remained completely focused when the Girls 18 final of the 2013 National Lotteries Authority-sponsored Seventh SVG ITF Junior Tennis Tournament was played.

Pratt, who won the 2013 Coca-Cola ITF Junior Tennis Singles title in Saint Lucia a week before, did not allow third seed Stampli to settle into any rhythm, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

It was consistent tennis from Pratt last Friday, although she made a few unforced errors, but was able to add the 2013 National Lotteries Authority-sponsored Seventh SVG ITF Junior Tennis Girls 18 title to her list of accomplishments.

According to Pratt, she is now seeking her third straight Singles title in Tobago this coming week.

Meanwhile, played on court one, the final of the 2013 National Lotteries Authority-sponsored Seventh SVG ITF Junior Tennis Tournament, pitted the two players who took nothing for granted and played smart, consistent tennis throughout the week-long tournament.

Facing seven seed Sami Kirberg and despite being under pressure and fully cognizant that he had a Boys 18 Doubles semi-final later in the day and a possible Boys 18 Doubles final, Schalet took the first set 6-3.

He quickly followed up with a 6-2 second set win to add the 2013 National Lotteries Authority-sponsored Seventh SVG International Tennis Federation Junior Tennis title to his resumé. (Robertson S. Henry/robertsons.henry@gmail.com)
