The St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association (SVGTTA) has selected nine team members and three officials to represent SVG at the annual Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Table Tennis Championships and the Senior Caribbean Championships in St Lucia from August 24 to September 1, 2013.{{more}}

Robert Ballantyne has been named as the captain of the team. The other male members of the team are Joseph Carrington, Romano Spencer, Kamal Hunte, Kavir Gaymes (Junior) and Javier Deshong (Under 15).

Karen Browne, Unica Velox and Tishuan Matthews are the female members of the team.

The officials making up the team are Sean Stanley (coach), Tyrone Jack (manager) and Damion Dublin (umpire/player).

Manager of the team Tyrone Jack, in a release, said that he expects the team members to play well and give a good account of themselves.

“Our two youngest (juniors), Javier Deshong and Kavir Gaymes will be exposed to a much higher level of competition and will learn a great deal from the overseas exposure,” the release said.

Coach Sean Stanley said the team is well-balanced and strategically poised to perform at the highest level. In relation to their technical competence, he said he is confident that they will play to the best of their ability and do their country proud.

SVG’s last participation in the OECS Championships was in 2011 when the SVGTTA hosted the event and captured the Men’s Open Singles title in the person of Robert (Bob) Ballantyne, and the Open Doubles title by Kamal Hunte and Romano Spencer.

This is the first time that the Senior Caribbean Championships will be played in the OECS.
