Ajuba steering course in VINLEC North Leeward T/20

Defending champions of the Vinlec North Leeward Sports Association T/20 Cricket Competition Ajuba of Spring Village, is steering their course as the 2013 matches continued last weekend at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}

Ajuba added another win to their tally when they defeated Winterset Ball Beaters by seven wickets. Winterset Ball Beaters posted 225 for 5 off 20 overs. Omar Tucker cracked 107 not out and Desron Maloney, 64.

Casmond Walters picked up 2 for 29, bowling for Ajuba.

Ajuba responded well and reached 226 for 3 off 19.1 overs. Casmond Walters hit 76, Harley Skerritt, 51 not out, Roneil Jeffery, 40 not out and Newborne Joseph, 40. Walters claimed the Man of the Match award.

But it was Somerset who had two wins.

On Thursday, Emancipation Day, Somerset saw off Rudy’s Electrical by 66 runs.

Batting first, Somerset reached 165 off 20 overs: John Williams made 36, Kevin Small, 30, and Hank Hall, 24. Andre Hunte grabbed 4 for 10 and Leon Samuel, 3 for 26.

Responding, Rudy’s Electrical was dismissed for 99 off 14.1-overs, with Nolan Williams hitting a top score of 27.

Man of the Match Rellan Ackie snared 4 for 28 and Ralmore Pierre, 3 for 25.

Somerset returned on Sunday to stop Carlos James Troumaca United by two wickets.

Troumaca United made 122 all out off 17 overs. Courtney Joyette led the way with 58, as Hank Hall picked up 4 for 22.

Somerset then reached 123 for 8 off 19.1 overs. Verbert King scored 30 and Hank Hall, 23 not out.

Denis Byam was the pick of Troumaca’s bowling with 3 for 28.

Hank Hall was the Man of the Match after taking 4 for 22 and scoring 23 not out.

But Carlos James Troumaca Starlight made up when they handed Heritage Tours Peto Stars a two-wicket defeat.

Peto Stars was able to make 159 all out off 19.3 overs, with Colville Edwards hitting 47 and Ronique Laborde, 40. Donald Delpesche and Kentish John both had figures of 3 for 17.

Troumaca Starlight, in reply, made 160 for 8 off 18.2 overs. Donald Delpesche was the principal batsman with 56. Ronique Laborde took 3 for 29, bowling for Peto Stars.

Donald Delpesche earned the Man of the Match award for his 3 for 17 and scoring 56.

Also in winner’s row was Sharps United, who defeated Robertson’s Surveying Rising Stars by three wickets.

Rising Stars’ innings stopped at 162 for 7 off 20 overs. Akeem Shallow was the lead batsman with 94 not out.

Sharps United, during their turn at the crease, scored 167 for 7 off 20 overs, winning off the last ball. Maxwell Edwards contributed 42, which earned him the Man of the Match award.

And in the bank holiday’s other match Rudy’s Electrical defeated Carlos James Troumaca United by 70 runs.

Rudy’s Electrical compiled 206 for 5 off 20 overs. Leon Samuel with 86, Chrisroy John, 44 and Mc Neil Morgan, 24, were the major contributors with the bat. Troumaca United was bowled out for 136 off 15.3 overs.

Denis Byam hit 70, as Leon Samuel took 3 for 29, to give him the Man of the Match accolade. (RT)
