SVG can take basketball talent to next level – Foyle

Adonal Foyle believes that his Kerosene Lamp Foundation annual Academics and Athletics Camps can survive another ten years, but has other wishes for the sport of basketball here in St Vincent and the Grenadines especially.{{more}}

Foyle, in expressing his aspirations to SEARCHLIGHT recently, said: “I would say that I hope that by 2023 they would have an indoor facility here in St Vincent and the Grenadines and a Basketball Academy… I think that we have the talent now and I think it is just a question of getting the will to really believe that we could take this to the next level.”

Foyle, who is this country’s lone NBA player, who played from 1997 to 2010, noted: “I think it’s time enough… We have produced two WNBA players and an NBA player from this little island; we have numerous college players as well.”

Foyle quipped that is it probably something in the water which enables Vincentians to produce such persons, despite the slender resources of the country.

“I think it’s time for us to have an academic institution really focussing on the duality sports and academics. That’s my goal, that’s what I want to see by 2023,” Foyle reiterated. (RT)
