At a brief closing ceremony, director of Grassroot Tennis Club Grant Connell thanked Ryan Gonsalves and Subway for the support given to this year’s camp, and Mustique Company Limited, whose contribution Connell said was given to a participant to assist with needed supplies.

The camp was run by head coach Trevor Sam, whom Connell described as “ the main anchor” at GTC, assisted by Khir Huggins, former coach at GTC and Deron Grant, who took time out of his brief visit home to work with the children.

Grant, an ITF level 2 certified coach, who now works in Oman as head coach at Ras Aamra Recreational Centre, was commended by Connell, who said “although Deron lives miles away, his heart is still at the Grassroot and his efforts last year to raise funds resulted in our team participating in the junior tournament in Antigua; I thank him and wish him all the very best”.

Connell expressed gratitude to the signage holders of the Grassroot Tennis Club, who continued to fuel the efforts at the club and the results can be seen.

He also showered praise on the Da Silva brothers, Casper and Silky, who allowed him to create the opportunity for youngsters to access and develop in the game of tennis, which they would not have without a facility of this nature.
